Thursday, 10 November 2022 - Left Marrakesh and headed into the High Atlas Mountains, met our Amazigh guide and hiked up a mountain trail past walnut orchards to the village of Aroumd, enjoyed mint tea and hospitality with the guide's family, captured images of terraced hillsides and adobe villages with stunning High Atlas views, and ended the day with a sunset over Jbel Toubkal from our hotel in the mountains.

morocco2022 — Town on the hillside - the moon just over the horizon. Again, the villages are along the river where crops can grow. In this part of the country walnuts are predominant.

morocco2022 — Apples are also a big crop - here are apple crates stacked for a future harvest.

morocco2022 — We stopped in the village of Imlil and left the van for a guided hike up the mountain.

The leaves were just turning along the trail.

morocco2022 — In the small valley were seven villages some up high on the hillside and others in the valley.

morocco2022 — After many generations the amount of land passed down becomes smaller and smaller. This tree is marked to indicate its owner - the family might be down to handing down specific trees on the land.

morocco2022 — We met several people going up and down the trail - here is a man and his donkey headed down.

morocco2022 — A village nestled in the High Atlas mountains - we will walk down the road which cuts across the near mountain.

morocco2022 — As we approach the mountain village of Aroumd we meet some men headed down to Imlil.

morocco2022 — Our Amazigh guide took us to his home in Aroumd. We were introduced to his wife and the youngest daughter then served tea - mint tea. The tea and walnuts were delicious.

morocco2022 — A small stream coming down the mountain. Immediately the water is divertted into irrigation channels.
