Sunday, 18 September 2016 - Walked through a large public park in Munich after a slow start, then took the train to beautiful Rothenburg ob der Tauber where we explored the remarkably well-preserved medieval old town with its cobblestone streets, towers, and historic buildings before nightfall.
A little hungover we stumbled through a large public park - the English Garden -
to find a grocery store or delhi. We
were successful and stocked up for another train-bound picnic.
Going through the park we passed by the Monopteros a small round, Greek-style temple.
It was built on a 45-foot-high foundation, around which a small hill was created in 1832.
After a train ride we arrived in beautiful Rothenburg ob der Tauber -
the central square surrounded by buildings
several centuries old.
It is well known for its well-preserved medieval old town.
It is part of the popular Romantic Road through Southern Germany.
Rothenburg was a Free Imperial City from the late Middle Ages to 1803.
The local drugstore has a great building just off the market.
Our hotel is on the left with a small lane traveling back into the city.
Old cobblestone roads wind their way through town and tower gates.
