Adventure in the Himalayas

Monday, 26 August 2019 - Traveled from Nubra Valley to Pokhara, Nepal in the afternoon; upon arrival explored Tashi Ling Tibetan Refugee Village seeing traditional weaving, visited the scenic Davis Falls with its rushing waters into a tunnel, and walked along the shores of Phewa Lake photographing local boats and lakeside life.

Our next stop is Pokhara in Nepal, which is the second-largest city in Nepal.

We did not have a lot of time due to our late arrival in Pokhara - but we made the most of the afternoon.

The first stop was the Tashi Ling Tibetan Village - a village which in 1964 had over 1000 refugees. Today there are 300 or so in the camp. They cannot legally work or hold a passport.

They weave various rugs, blankets and pillows.

Water rushes over Davis Falls and then drops into an underground tunnel.

On 31 July 1961, a Swiss couple Davi went swimming, but the woman drowned in a pit because of the overflow. Her body was recovered 3 days later in the river Phusre with great effort. Her father wished to name it "Davi's falls" after her.

Walking along the banks of Phewa Lake we saw this little puppy - unusual to see a pet dog in a park - or anywhere outside.
