Baileys has gone to chase rabbits in heaven. He was a great companion over the 17
years he was with us. Below are several of our favorite photos of Mr Beagle.
Baileys as a pup, giving Virginia Ann a kiss during a photo session. He went
weeks without a name until Cal spotted an ad for Baileys Irish Cream in a
magazine, and that was that.
Virginia Ann's dad, Lucius, bought Baileys a remote control car for Christmas.
He loved chasing it, and biting the tires, around their driveway. Not sure if
Baileys or Lucius had more fun that day.
Baileys' 3rd grade photo - okay, not really, but a professional shot of a
beautiful beagle around age 2.
One of our favorites - Baileys alert and looking very intent. Such a handsome
hound.
A nap on a warm pillow, up in the North Carolina mountains after a long hike. A
beagle can sleep anywhere.
High on a hike to the top of Whiteside Mountain. Baileys loved our hikes in the
mountains.
Standing in the cold water below Whitewater Falls, looking up at Cal, who had
climbed onto a boulder Baileys couldn't figure out how to follow.
Launching over a log, ears curled wonderfully. Those soft rabbit ears did give
us some challenges - prone to infection, which meant treatment he never
appreciated.
Always vigilant, watching for strangers out the front window. A great watch
dog, and fiercely protective of Virginia Ann.
The beagle howl - hard to catch in full voice. When one of us came home, he'd
throw his head back and howl for us.
Drinking from a mountain stream. He could hike as far as we could, probably
farther - except in the rain and thunder.
And after a hard hike, sleep. He loved to nap.
Head out the car window - always energetic for a ride, especially on winding
North Carolina mountain roads.
Wearing his Christmas collar, putting up with yet another photo session.
Looking back on us as we hike - still ahead of us on the next trail.
