Dublin and London for Business

Monday, 26 September 2011 - Explored Dublin with a visit to historic Trinity College including the Book of Kells and Old Library, walked through downtown taking photos of the Bank of Ireland and Custom House, and enjoyed a tasting at the Guinness Brewery's rooftop bar after the fun multi-story tour.

Today we were off to Trinity College for a tour and a stop at the Book of Kells. Here is the Campanile in the middle of the campus courtyard. The college was founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I to establish a Protestant educational institution.

We took a student tour of the campus which was great - very educational and comical. Beautiful campus and the day we were there was the first day for the freshmen so lots of college kids running around.

We also saw the Book of Kells which is in the Old Library - it was written on calfskin in the 8th century by Irish Monks. Beautiful book.

The Guinness Brewery - not exactly sure of the function around these storage units, but they make a good composition.

The Guinness Brewery tour is fun - a little long - you wind your way up 6 or 7 stories to the final destination - a bar at the top. The tour is in a building the shape of a Guinness pint glass.

The National Library has a beautiful ceiling. This is the Main Reading Room. The Main Reading Room provides seating for 75 readers
