Abstract Photography in Sedona

Saturday, 24 April 2021 - Started early again to avoid the harsh sunlight with photography at Grasshopper Point on Oak Creek focusing on reflections and slow water compositions, then in the afternoon hiked partway up the Loy Canyon Trail to visit and photograph ancient petroglyphs on the canyon walls.

We stared early again to avoid the sun. This time to Oak Creek at Grasshopper Point. Grasshopper Point is a swimming hole, therefore, the focus is on water pictures.

This is a fun picture - can you see the composition? It is a reflection of the shore - then turned upside down so the top is the reflection of the forest and at the bottom is the shoreline.

The stalk of agave growing on the cliffs overlooking Oak Creek Canyon. The colors on this stalk were so striking.

In the afternoon we hiked the Loy Canyon Trail - but not the whole way. We stopped a few miles in at a large rock mesa which was close to the creek cutting the canyon. The reason for the detour was petroglyphs.

There were some carvings and some paintings a very good range of art over the ages. H

Several works were in white - here is an animal high on the cliff. Graffiti damaged several of the works.

One of my favorite drawings - a hunt scene. Even the arrow has motion indicated.
