Photographing Madagascar Lemurs

Saturday, 21 May 2022 - Hiked in Amber Mountain National Park with the group spotting Northern Blue-Nose chameleons, Panther chameleons, tiny frogs and geckos, Sanford's Brown lemurs, and other rainforest wildlife, captured colorful insects and mossy waterfalls deep in the lush forest before returning after a day of rich wildlife photography.

On our hike our first discovery was a male Amber Mountain chameleon

The Sanford's Brown lemur is only found in the forests of northern Madagascar.

The diet of this species consists primarily of fruit, but includes other plant parts according to seasonal availability, and also includes the occasional invertebrate (e.g., centipedes, millipedes and spiders).

Sanford's brown lemur is considered to be Endangered, and among the rarest of the brown lemurs.

There is no evidence of female dominance in this species, which is unusual for lemurs but appears to be frequent in brown lemur species.

On the branch in the picture is a Mossy Leaf-Tailed gecko - can you spot it? Our guide told us there was a lizard in the bush. We all looked and said no - you are joking. You really had to focus to see the lizard

One of the guides accidentally bumped the bush and the Mossy Leaf-Tailed gecko jumped up on a branch - now you can see the lizard easily.
